Classes

Ballet Bugs is a series of ballet classes for children at Pre-School – Primary School ages.
The aim is to start a love of ballet while enjoying the many benefits of dancing:

The early development of these skills will stay with your little one always, regardless of whether they wish to pursue dancing beyond their classes.

• CLASS AGE GROUPS •

𝓒𝓪𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓹𝓲𝓵𝓵𝓪𝓻𝓼

Ages 18 Months – 3 Years

A parent/guardian participates at times or however much your little dancer needs.

Caterpillars is the perfect introduction to dancing, hopefully building a love for it early on. We work towards our first balletic movements such as galloping, twirling, being on tiptoes, jumping, etc., while also dancing with lots of props for fun, engagement and sensory education. We also practice some early disciplines like sitting on our spot, waiting for our turn or tidying up our props after we have used them.

𝓑𝓾𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓯𝓵𝓲𝓮𝓼

Ages 3 -5 Years

A parent/guardian watches their little dancer or drops them off.

In Butterflies, we explore more complex ballet terminology/movement such as skipping or balancing on one leg, etc. The children now dance independently/with other children in their class, which builds their confidence and performance skills. We frequently use our imaginations and explore the concept of storytelling through dance as Bella The Butterfly is introduced: https://www.butterflyballet.co.uk/bella-the-butterfly

𝓢𝓾𝓷𝓯𝓵𝓸𝔀𝓮𝓻 𝓐𝓬𝓪𝓭𝓮𝓶𝔂

Ages 5+

A parent/guardian drops off their little dancer.

When your little dancer starts Primary School, they can move up into the Sunflower Academy. Classes incorporate more advanced terminology/movements and syllabus content – both of which adapt and continue to suit their age group/ability as they grow and progress – free/creative improvisation and performance material such as learning/creating dances. The children also have the opportunity to perform in our annual Showcase and in their watching weeks.

What will your little dancer gain from the Sunflower Academy?

🌻 Their confidence and sense of independence grows as they take part by themselves/with other children in their class
🌻 Their individuality, imagination and creativity are all highly encouraged and exercised through improvising, choreographing and conversing, all while having a space to be completely themselves
🌻 Skills or attributes such as musicality, concentration, co-ordination, patience, expression, kindness and dedication build as a result of the class and its environment
🌻 We take turns celebrating each other with Star of the Week bears – each class is a little community, with every child a valued member
🌻 They learn a range of ballet steps and dances, discussing the necessary technique and recognising their improvement as they practise them each week
🌻 Perhaps most importantly: they have as much fun through dancing as possible! All while benefitting physically, emotionally and socially 💛
